A Little Birdie Told Me

Okay. So I finally gave in to peer pressure, and started a Twitter account this past Thursday.
It took me a long time to get to this decision, mainly because I thought: "another social networking tool? But Facebook works just fine, though, doesn't it?". I just couldn't understand it.

I mean, I could see that it was fast becoming the new "in-thing" to have a Twitter account set up (remember when MXit was that thing?), but I thought it was a fad I could let pass by.

Well, I'm here to admit that the chirping and twittering of the world's little birdies drowned out the voice of doubt, and I finally logged on to twitter.com and set up an account.

I thought about what my "handle" would be for days, but in the end I stuck to my real name. Partly because I couldn't come up with anything cool (don't act like seeming cool to your peers doesn't matter to you), and partly because I am just not one of those weirdos who think that having lots of random numbers and a jumble of letters as a "name" makes them mysterious and appealing.

So, I'm on Twitter now.

I'm still trying to figure it out, and I'm being very cautious with my "retweets" and my "mentions", and I never want to become an annoying Twitter user, but once I wrap my head around the lingo and the protocol, I'm sure I'll be fine.

As for followers. I'm not Paris Hilton or Beyonce, so people don't necessarily want to know what's going on with my life every minute of everyday, even if I'm just getting a McFlurry at McDonald's, but I'm working on it.

Here's to spreading my wings and soaring through the twittersphere!

  1. I got a twitter account eight or so months ago, i thought it would be harmless - but it wasnt! I tweet about everything, from what I'm wearing, to what I'm reading to what I'm eating!
Hopefully you'll have some more self discipline that the rest of us :)

  2. Now following @haberdashgirl. ;)
